5 Signs You Need a New Air Conditioner

  1. Frequent Breakdowns: If your air conditioner is constantly breaking down and requiring repairs, it may be time for a new unit. A reliable AC system should work properly without the need for frequent repairs.
  2. Old Age: Air conditioning units have a lifespan of around 10-15 years. If your AC system is reaching or exceeding this age, it’s a good idea to start considering a replacement.
  3. Increasing Energy Bills: If your energy bills have been steadily increasing despite no significant changes in your energy usage, it could be a sign that your AC system is becoming less efficient and needs to be replaced.
  4. Lack of Cooling Power: If your air conditioner is struggling to cool your space or if certain areas of your home or business are consistently hotter than others, it may be time for a more powerful AC system.
  5. Expensive Repairs: If the cost of repairing your AC system is getting close to or exceeding the cost of a new unit, it’s usually more cost-effective to invest in a replacement rather than continuing to pour money into repairs.

What Should I Consider When Replacing My AC?

When it comes to replacing your air conditioner, there are several factors to consider. Here are four key points to keep in mind:

  1. SEER Rating: The SEER rating, or Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio, measures the energy efficiency of an AC system. A higher SEER rating means greater energy efficiency and lower energy bills.
  2. Size and Capacity: It’s important to choose an AC system that is appropriately sized for your space. A system that is too small will struggle to cool your space, while a system that is too large will cycle on and off frequently, wasting energy.
  3. Installation: Proper AC installation is crucial for optimal performance. Make sure to choose a reputable HVAC company with experienced technicians who will install your new system correctly.
  4. Budget: Consider your budget when choosing a new AC system. While it’s important to invest in a high-quality unit, you also want to find a system that fits within your financial means.

Should I Repair or Replace My Air Conditioner?

Consider the age of your AC system. If it’s nearing the end of its lifespan, investing in repairs may not be the most cost-effective solution. Repairs can also add up over time, especially if your system requires frequent fixes.

If your current AC system is not energy efficient, replacing it with a newer, high-efficiency model can save you money on your energy bills in the long run. Newer systems are designed to be more energy-efficient, which can result in significant savings over time.

Lower Your Cooling Bill with a High-Efficiency AC

Investing in a high-efficiency AC system can help you significantly lower your cooling bills. Here’s why:

High-efficiency AC systems are designed to use less energy while still providing optimal cooling performance. They achieve this through advanced technology and improved components that allow the system to operate more efficiently.

By upgrading to a high-efficiency AC system, you can reduce your energy consumption and, as a result, lower your monthly cooling bills. Over time, the savings can add up, making it a worthwhile investment.

How often should I replace my air conditioner?

On average, air conditioners have a lifespan of around 10-15 years. However, this can vary depending on factors such as usage, maintenance, and quality of the unit.

Can I install an AC system myself?

It is highly recommended to hire a professional HVAC company for AC installation. Proper installation is crucial for optimal performance and to ensure the warranty remains valid.

How can I improve the energy efficiency of my AC system?

Regular maintenance, such as cleaning or replacing air filters, keeping the outdoor unit clear of debris, and scheduling professional tune-ups, can help improve the energy efficiency of your AC system.

See What Your Neighbors Are Saying!

Our 25-year-old furnace conked out, so we did a lot of on-line 'shopping'. Ended up getting two bids for a new furnace, one from a place in Bend, another from Nick, one of C.O. Heating's estimators. Nick was very personable, listened closely to what we had to say, and came up with a plan that was actually less than what I expected to pay. We lucked out from a scheduling standpoint: we talked to Nick on Friday afternoon, and they installed a new furnace the following Monday! Doesn't get much better than that when nights are getting down to freezing and you have no heat in the house.

Our installation was difficult, in a very tight crawl space, but C.O. Heating's installer, Cody, took it in stride. He kind of gulped when he saw what he was dealing with, but dove right in and got the unit swapped out by mid afternoon. Nice job, Cody!

So, two thumbs up for C.O. Heating. We heartily recommend them.
The service c o heat n cool has provided the past 30 days has been the best. When learning about the horrible fire that nearly destroyed my daughter’s home, service has been almost instant!

I’ve used central Oregon heating and cooling in the past for plumbing needs and now heating maintenance. Dan was very professional, explained what he was doing, and gave me some helpful tips on how to keep my system running like new.
Our Technician, Martin, was the epitome of customer service! He quickly diagnosed the problem with our fireplace and even explained some upgrades that we were wishing we had but didn’t know how easy it would be to get them. He even did a maintenance on the fireplace for free since he was already here. Our fireplace now looks brand new and works better than ever. We are so happy we called Central Oregon Heating, Cooling, Plumbing, and Electrical!
