5 Signs You Need a New Air Conditioner

  1. Frequent Breakdowns: If your air conditioner is constantly breaking down and requiring repairs, it may be time for a new unit. A reliable AC system should work properly without the need for frequent repairs.
  2. Old Age: Air conditioning units have a lifespan of around 10-15 years. If your AC system is reaching or exceeding this age, it’s a good idea to start considering a replacement.
  3. Increasing Energy Bills: If your energy bills have been steadily increasing despite no significant changes in your energy usage, it could be a sign that your AC system is becoming less efficient and needs to be replaced.
  4. Lack of Cooling Power: If your air conditioner is struggling to cool your space or if certain areas of your home or business are consistently hotter than others, it may be time for a more powerful AC system.
  5. Expensive Repairs: If the cost of repairing your AC system is getting close to or exceeding the cost of a new unit, it’s usually more cost-effective to invest in a replacement rather than continuing to pour money into repairs.

What Should I Consider When Replacing My AC?

When it comes to replacing your air conditioner, there are several factors to consider. Here are four key points to keep in mind:

  1. SEER Rating: The SEER rating, or Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio, measures the energy efficiency of an AC system. A higher SEER rating means greater energy efficiency and lower energy bills.
  2. Size and Capacity: It’s important to choose an AC system that is appropriately sized for your space. A system that is too small will struggle to cool your space, while a system that is too large will cycle on and off frequently, wasting energy.
  3. Installation: Proper AC installation is crucial for optimal performance. Make sure to choose a reputable HVAC company with experienced technicians who will install your new system correctly.
  4. Budget: Consider your budget when choosing a new AC system. While it’s important to invest in a high-quality unit, you also want to find a system that fits within your financial means.

Should I Repair or Replace My Air Conditioner?

Consider the age of your AC system. If it’s nearing the end of its lifespan, investing in repairs may not be the most cost-effective solution. Repairs can also add up over time, especially if your system requires frequent fixes.

If your current AC system is not energy efficient, replacing it with a newer, high-efficiency model can save you money on your energy bills in the long run. Newer systems are designed to be more energy-efficient, which can result in significant savings over time.

Lower Your Cooling Bill with a High-Efficiency AC

Investing in a high-efficiency AC system can help you significantly lower your cooling bills. Here’s why:

High-efficiency AC systems are designed to use less energy while still providing optimal cooling performance. They achieve this through advanced technology and improved components that allow the system to operate more efficiently.

By upgrading to a high-efficiency AC system, you can reduce your energy consumption and, as a result, lower your monthly cooling bills. Over time, the savings can add up, making it a worthwhile investment.

How often should I replace my air conditioner?

On average, air conditioners have a lifespan of around 10-15 years. However, this can vary depending on factors such as usage, maintenance, and quality of the unit.

Can I install an AC system myself?

It is highly recommended to hire a professional HVAC company for AC installation. Proper installation is crucial for optimal performance and to ensure the warranty remains valid.

How can I improve the energy efficiency of my AC system?

Regular maintenance, such as cleaning or replacing air filters, keeping the outdoor unit clear of debris, and scheduling professional tune-ups, can help improve the energy efficiency of your AC system.

Buddy was great, personable, very polite and went out of his way to complete our furnace maintenance - he had to go meet up with another repairman to get the right furnace filter because he had used up all the ones he had in his truck. Thank you, Buddy

Our tech Martin was incredibly friendly and was able to help navigate problems we’ve had with our fireplace for years! He was also incredibly patient with our dog who spent most of Martin’s visit barking at him.
Central Oregon Heating and Cooling installed a new HVAC system for us this July. It worked great until the overnight temperatures started dropping. Then it stopped heating properly. We had three different COH&C tech visits in the last month. Each tech got it working while they were here land thought it was corrected, but after each visit the system stopped heating overnight. This left us with many 61 degree mornings. Not fun! Matthew came out yesterday, Sunday and got it working and it held overnight!!! Great to wake up to 71 degrees this am!!! A big, warm “Thank You” to Matthew!
Matthew also called us last evening to see if the system was still heating, it was. Very professional and considerate!!!
Fred and Jordon did a great job installing our new furnace. All in one day.
Friendly and professional.
Big thanks to the on-call technician who helped me re-light the water heater over the phone on a Saturday!! You guys are great
Cody and Jesse did a great job on our heating and air conditioning installation. I certainly recommend COHCPE for their professional work. Alex did the same high quality work on the new hot water heater. And finally Nick was the product expert advising us on the best solutions for our home. He detailed the many options and most importantly listened to my thoughts and what we wanted. A huge Thank You, Peter
Dylan was helpful, pleasant and answered all of my questions.
Alex B and Zeke came to my house and repaired my noisy hot water circulation system. They arrived on time, were professional and a pleasure to work with. I’m very happy with the way the system turned out after their repair and I would recommend them to anyone needing plumbing work done.
Leon and Tyce are the most professional individuals and were informative and helpful in our HVAC maintenance! Appreciated the prompt and educational conversation!
Lyle did a great job and he was very informative. Very nice guy. It’s a peace of mind to know that these things are being checked on a schedule.
